I. TASTING CONSULTATION

In order to assist you in choosing your wedding cake, we will schedule a day and time for a consultation and tasting at the coffee shop.
You will be asked to choose some flavours from our catalogue (a charge will apply).

Once we have decided the details (design, flavours, the number of guests, tiers, sizes, decoration, delivery details),
Meraki will send you a full proposal quotation to confirm the date.

II. TIMING AND CHANGES

We advise all of our clients planning their wedding cake with us to secure their date ideally between 2 and 4 months in advance. Whilst we will always try to accommodate all of our clients, our bookings are taken on a first come first serve basis, and we reserve the right to decline orders as we only realise one wedding cake for the same day.
For events and weddings in the busy wedding season (from May to September) we recommend booking as early as possible.

Making a wedding cake is a long process which requires preparation and organisation. For this reason, changes to the style, size, or flavours less than 15 days prior to the event will not be accepted. Other changes cannot be guaranteed and may be subject to additional charges.

III. HIRE OF CAKES STANDS

The wedding cake is an important element in the celebration that can also act as a decorative element.
At Meraki we offer the possibility to hire cake stands and plates, choosing from our selection.

Cake stands can be hired for free for a period of up to 7 days. A security deposit equal to the value of the item will be retained. This will be refunded in full once the item is returned to us undamaged and in its original condition within 7 days of hire.

IV. ORDERING AND PAYMENT

In order to confirm your order and save your date, you will be asked to pay 40% of the total amount. Once we have received this payment, your date will be reserved.

By paying this fee, you accept these terms and conditions. This deposit is non-refundable if you cancel less than 30 days before the event.

Should you cancel your order less than 1 week before the event, no refunds will be due.

If you order with less than 30 days to the event, we will ask you for a full payment and this is non refundable if you eventually cancel.

We accept payment by:
bank transfer, details of which will be provided upon booking

V. DELIVERY

Our delivery service is only available in Menorca and will include liaison with your venue and assembly of the cake in situ. The service is dependent upon availability and will be charged on an hourly basis determined by the travel distance and the time and labour required for assembling the cake.

Once your cake has been delivered and set up, Meraki will ask for a delivery note signature from the catering team or any other person in charge at the location.

After delivery or collection, please ensure that, when exposed, your cake is kept on a suitable, sturdy table, out of sunlight and at room temperature (lower than 22º C).
Our cakes need to be kept in the refrigerator (4-8º C) until exhibiting time. We advise against placing the cake outside in direct sunlight.

At Meraki we don’t offer cake-cutting service, therefore you will need to discuss this with the catering team as there might be a fee from their side.

VI. COLLECTION

Some cakes may be suitable for collection which can be discussed at the point of ordering. We will give you instructions on the best way to transport the

cake. However, please note that due to the climate and road conditions in Menorca, we don’t recommend collecting tiered cakes.
If the cake is collected, the full responsibility for the safety of the cake is with the client and Meraki will not be responsible for any damage to the cake after it has been collected.

In both cases we will provide a cutting chart, which can be used to calculate the right amount of portions for your needs.

VII. PHOTO RIGHTS

Sometimes we take pictures or video of our cakes (in the process or once finalised, at the coffee shop or at the venue) and we reserve the right to use any photographs for our own reference or for display and/or promotion without compensation to you.

We will of course keep in mind the day of your event and we won’t publish any picture on our website or social networks until the event has taken place.

VIII. OUR LIABILITY

Our liability to you is limited to the price of the cake and we cannot be held responsible for any indirect losses which may happen due to a force majeure event.

This means we cannot be liable or responsible for any failure to perform, or delay in performance of, any of our obligations under these terms that is caused by any act, event, non-happening, omission or accident beyond our reasonable control.

IX. ALLERGIES AND SPECIAL DIET REQUIREMENTS

It is the customer’s responsibility to make Meraki aware of any special dietary requirements that need to be accommodated in the making of their cake.

Unless otherwise specified all our cakes contain dairy, gluten (wheat) and eggs and are made in an environment that handles nuts, soya and other allergens.

If a severe allergy is known it is the customer’s responsibility to inform that guest not to eat the cake due to the possibility of trace allergens. Meraki accepts no liability for customers suffering allergic reactions from eating our cakes. In case you choose fresh flowers to decorate your cake, at Meraki we will make sure these flowers are non-toxic. However, you need to understand that flowers are not food and may contain pesticide, insects and other chemicals, so they must be removed before serving. At Meraki we take no responsibility for fresh flower contamination or harm.
